Applications that require SMS access and call logs will be removed from Google Play Store by Google

The search giant has made a decision that it will not allow programmers to launch applications that require access to SMS or call logs on Play Store.

Access to sensitive data and information of users is one of the things that Google is taking seriously. And this is the reason that the search giant has made a decision that will not allow programmers to launch applications that require access to SMS or call logs on Play Store.

By yesterday (January 15, 2019), Google has issued a notice that will start deleting all applications that require access to SMS and call logs on Play Store in the next few weeks.

If you want your applications with these two permissions not removed from Google Play Store, developers will have to submit a permission declaration form.

Application developers will have 2 options:

  1. Release a new version of the application without these 2 permissions.
  2. Issuing a new version retains these rights but must submit a special listing (exception form) on Play Console.

Developers have a deadline up to March 9, 2019 to remove the above rights or receive special case-specific approvals from Google.

This move by Google to help users better control their data and get a new user experience.
