Apple Pay started operating on October 20
As expected, Apple has officially announced that it will officially launch the Apple Pay payment service on October 20, now with more than 500 registered banks.
At the launch event of iPad and Mac in the morning of October 17 ( Vietnam time ), Apple CEO Tim Cook officially confirmed that Apple Pay is ready to go into operation.
He said that Apple has received applications from more than 500 banks since the announcement of Apple Pay last month. Banks will officially apply Apple Pay in this year and next year. However, this service will initially only apply to users in the United States.
Earlier, Apple announced Apple Pay will support payment cards of American Express, MasterCard, Visa and many other banks in the US such as Citi, Bank of America, Capital One, Wells Fargo, Chase, American Express PNC, Navy Federal Credit Union, Barclays, USBank, and USAA.
Apple Pay also has large retail partners that will start to apply from the beginning of official operations such as Disney, MLB, Nike, Starbucks, OpenTable, Target, Uber and other companies.
Apple said Apple Pay will officially take effect for supported devices after users install an update of iOS 8.1 in the near future.
