AMD Radeon 800M iGPU with 16 RDNA 3.5 cores scores more than 3600 points in 3DMark Time Spy, nearly equal to RTX 2050 Perf
That's the verdict from tech leaker Golden Pig in a post sharing details of reviews conducted on laptops running MSI's Ryzen AI 300 CPU at Computerx 2024. Next-generation integrated GPU AMD will have many improvements compared to its predecessors RDNA 3 "Radeon 700M".
It should be noted that the MSI laptop models displayed in Compex 2024 are not the official commercial versions, and are using the technical silicon of the AMD Ryze AI 300 chip. Most of these laptop models are running Ryzen CPUs. AI 9 HX 370, this is the top configuration with 12 cores based on Zen 5 core architecture, 24 threads and the top Radeon 890M iGPU with 16 CUs (compute units).
Based on the measurements performed, the AMD Radeon 800M (890M) with 16 CUs clocked at around 2900MHz scored more than 3600 points in the 3DMark Time Spy Graphics test. Cinebench R23 performance was also evaluated and in this category, the CPU scored more than 2000 points in single core and more than 20,000 points in the multi-threaded test. It is known that overall CPU performance has been improved by more than 20% compared to the previous generation, but no details about TDP were mentioned.
A score of over 3600 points will bring the AMD Radeon 890M iGPU close to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 GPU (Laptop) in terms of theoretical performance. Since this is an early ES chip and we don't know anything about the TDP level, it can be assumed that the final performance with the actual commercial version will be much higher.
Previously, there have been many reports showing that the expected performance achieved by AMD's high-end iGPU could exceed 4000 points in the same 3DMark Time Spy tests. Overall, for a mildly improved architecture, these are huge improvements, and the additional CUs should help deliver tangible gains in gaming. Such upgrades will be suitable for many applications such as thin and light platforms, mini PCs and handheld devices.
