After ChatGPT, Apple wants to integrate Google Gemini into iOS
Apple fans were delighted yesterday when the tech giant announced a series of improvements across all its major operating systems. One of the things that users were looking forward to was the Apple - Open AI partnership and that became a reality in the 'Apple Intelligence' demo yesterday.
It looks like Apple won't be focusing solely on ChatGPT. As Craig Federighi and John Giannandrea said, in an interview yesterday, Apple hopes to bring multiple AI models like Gemini to iOS 18 so users can choose between different models.
In an interview with iJustine, Federighi said Google Gemini could launch soon if everything goes according to plan. He said: 'We think ultimately people will have preferences for certain models that they want to use, maybe one that's suitable for creative writing or one that they like for writing code. And so we want to allow users to use the model of their choice.'
In addition, he also said: 'We can expect integration with different models such as Google Gemini in the future. Although there is nothing to reveal right now, that is our direction." According to Federighi, Apple wants to start with the best product available on the market; hence they chose ChatGPT.
Either way, we can expect to see integrations with other models like Google Gemini in the future.
This may upset Google as they have been working on developing AI over the past few years. But the fact that Apple cooperates with many brands to give users a variety of choices is very unlike Apple's usual style. That's certainly a big selling point for consumers, who will soon be able to choose from various AI assistants.
All AI features will be available for free on iPhone 15 Pro, MacBook, and M-series iPad later this year. What do you think about Apple bringing ChatGPT to iPhone and Gemini to iOS 18? Share your opinions in the comments section below!
