These astonishing findings are the result of a major study conducted by the National Research Foundation and the Greek Ministry of Culture.

The search phase took place for 4 years and just ended in 2023. Currently, ghost ship wrecks and artifacts taken out of the water have only just begun to be studied.

The oldest wrecks date back to 3,000 BC, while the newest are from World War II.

Researchers also took more than 20,000 underwater photos at multiple wreck sites, which will be used to create a digital simulation of the "ghost ship graveyard" around Kasos, for the convenience of experts for the next research steps.

Some of the artifacts from ancient ships reviewed include an ancient stone anchor, ancient ceramics including pointed-bottomed amphorae and some Roman pottery.

Scientists also mapped coral in the area to facilitate research activities that require not damaging the marine environment.

Discovery is just the beginning. Scientists are planning more dives, including the discovery of hidden cargo in the wrecks, which will yield an invaluable archaeological and historical treasure.
