YouTube launches new video player interface, more friendly and lively

There is no doubt that YouTube is still the world's largest video sharing platform. One of the reasons why YouTube maintains this position is because Google continuously invests heavily in developing and improving the platform, both to retain current users and attract new ones.

After rolling out a series of new features to support mental health for teens, YouTube is announcing another major update – this time focusing on the video player interface.

New interface is more user-friendly and obscures less content

YouTube is rolling out a new video player on mobile, web, and TV, with a cleaner, less cluttered design. Icons and controls have also been refreshed, making it easier for users to navigate without 'obscuring' important content.

The 'seek' feature – double-tap to fast-forward a video – has also been tweaked to be less disruptive to viewing, and switching tabs on mobile is now smoother and more seamless.

YouTube is also making some interesting changes to the interactive side. When users like a video, animations will appear based on the theme of the content.
For example, when you like a music video, the 'like' icon will turn into an animated musical note – both dynamic and relevant to the content.

In addition, saving videos to the Watch Later list has also become faster and more intuitive, allowing users to operate in just a few touches.

YouTube is also introducing a new way to display comments, which groups related responses into threads for easier viewing and interaction.

'YouTube should reflect the dynamism and creativity of our creators, so we're adjusting the interface to deliver a more vibrant and engaging experience.'

All of these changes have already started rolling out globally, and users should see the update on their devices soon. If you want, you can send feedback directly to YouTube through the official feedback channels.
