Windows vs macOS – The 2020 Edition

Ever since the mainstream release of personal computers to the markets, consumers have been wondering which device to go with.

Many like the user-friendliness of Apple products, while others prefer the structured functionality of Windows-powered devices. For many years, the two operating systems appealed to two different audiences, even though, both operating systems offer more or less the same thing to the average user. There are, of course, a lot of differences in regards to the front end of every operating system.

Many computer users rarely decide to switch from Windows to macOS or vice versa, because they want to avoid having to learn to use a new operating system. Even though most core functions are pretty similar, there are a few new things for users to get used to. For example, adjusting from using the "Command" button instead of the "Control" button for many of the keyboard shortcuts, or adapting to a new way of using the mouse pad. When one thinks about these actions, the change does not feel like such a big deal, but it can be confusing when you use Windows at work and macOS at home.

Finding the Right Device for You

When it comes to buying the hardware, macOS makes things a lot easier. The buyer, more or less, knows what to expect from an Apple computer in terms of technical specs. Windows, on the other hand, is a whole different story, because there are dozens of manufacturers that sell computers running this operating system.

Some of them are really strong, while others can only perform the very basic functions. In a way, it is like finding the right online casino for players over 18. An inexperienced player might think that every casino offers more or less the same thing.

However, some online casino websites offer far more than others, both in terms of products and services as well as in terms of safety and trustworthiness. The same applies to Windows computers. If you are not careful, you might buy a device that has inferior technical specs than the ones you need for the tasks you want to perform.

Did Microsoft Get the Memo?

As an operating system, Windows has had its ups and downs over the last 20 years. Some versions were great, while others frustrated even the most loyal Windows users. Nevertheless, it seems like Microsoft has started listening to its customers and thatit has made numerous changes in order to offer the best operating system in the market. Today's Windows tick all the boxes in terms of accessibility and functionality, both for the everyday user, as well as for those who use their devices to run demanding software, 9th generation games or complex work-related programs.

Product Selection and Value for Money

As mentioned above, there are many computer manufacturers marketing Windows-powered devices, but macOS comes exclusively on Apple products. It is no secret that devices like a MacBook or an iMac do not come cheap. Apple users are aware of the cost, and they are normally OK with paying it to buy their next device.

Windows users, on the other hand, can buy a new computer at more reasonable prices. Additionally, they have a wider variety of products from which to choose. For example, some prefer buying a Microsoft device like Surface, others prefer going with Sony, while many prefer manufacturers like Lenovo or Asus. As for groups like gamers or for those who want some real hardware power, there are manufacturers like Dell, which releases the Alienware series or like MSI.
