What is Magic Write in Canva?
Magic Write is an AI text generator powered by OpenAI—the same company that powers ChatGPT. Magic Write aims to support content creators, making their workflow more inspiring and efficient.
Canva is promoting Magic Write as a way to create drafts quickly and accurately. With just a few words, in seconds, the AI can create everything from a simple reminder to a full essay for the user.
Create text from reminders using Magic Compose.
Log in to your Canva account and then access the link below to start using the Magic editor in Canva.
- Access Magic Editor on Canva
Next, click on the Magic Editor tool at the top.
In the Canva Docs interface, you will see a field where you can enter the theme or idea you want to develop .
To get the most out of Magic Write, enter specific ideas, intended use, and desired writing style when creating your document.
At this point, you will see the text generated in Canva based on the content you suggested. If you like it , you can use it immediately, or click Similar content to see more paragraphs, or to change it, click This content, but…
Then, enter the new requirements to proceed with rewriting the code according to the new specifications.
The resulting text has been revised to meet your new requirements.
Create new text from existing text using Magic Write
We select the text we want to change , then click the Magic Write icon . A list of different options will appear.

We select the command, follow the instructions, and then get the new text.
Create presentation notes using Magic Write
Open an existing presentation or create a new one. Then select the Notes option at the bottom.
We click on Create Note , with two different options.
- If you choose Use page content, Magic Write will create notes based on the content of your presentation. For custom reminders, you can enter your own reminders for Magic Write.
- Once you have created the note, click on the Actions section and you will also see options to adjust the content of this note.
We will get notes for the presentation slide. And when you click the Actions button, you will also see editing options as shown below.
