Earth has 24 meridians that divide the earth's surface into 24 equal parts. For each meridian will correspond to 1 time zone. Helping us easily calculate the time difference between countries. Coordinated Universal Time or UTC, is an international standard for dates and times performed by atomic methods. "UTC" is not really an acronym, but from the "CUT" (Coordinated Universal Time) English-language agreement and the French "TUC" abbreviation (temps universel coordonné). It is based on the old standard Greenwich Mean Time (GMT, English: Greenwich Mean Time) set by the British Navy in the 19th century, then renamed to international time (UT, English: Universal Time ). World time zone is calculated by negative or positive deviation from international time.

Based on theory, GMT is solar time, calculated at noon. Then the position of the sun will be on the Greenwich meridian. In fact, the Earth's motion in orbit around the Sun is not really round, but in a nearly circular ellipse, at a rate of change every year, this leads to a time difference on the earth.

The Earth revolves around itself unevenly, and tends to turn slowly because of the tidal forces of the Moon. Atomic clocks give us more accurate time than Earth's rotation. On January 1, 1972, an international conference on changing times GMT with International Coordinated Time (UTC), held by many atomic clocks around the world. UT1 is used, replacing GMT, to symbolize "the time the Earth turns". The margin is added or subtracted to UTC to keep it from being different than UT1 by 0.9 seconds.
