Those who owned the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will receive compensation

After years of waiting, iPhone 7 and 7 Plus users suffering from the "Loop Disease" bug are finally getting compensation from Apple.

In 2024, a class-action lawsuit against Apple over the Loop Disease defect in the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus was settled for $35 million. And now, users affected by the defect are starting to receive compensation payments.

 

The iPhone 7 line was once involved in lawsuits due to Loop Disease.

Loop Disease is a hardware bug that causes audio issues, including reduced audio quality, lost audio during FaceTime calls, and microphone failure. It is believed to be caused by stress on certain components inside the device.

While Apple has not admitted wrongdoing, it has agreed to settle to avoid a lengthy lawsuit. The amount of compensation for each user is about $200, but that number could change depending on whether the user has previously paid for the repair.

This isn't the first time Apple has had to compensate users for technical flaws in its products. Last year, MacBook users who experienced problems with the butterfly keyboard received a similar payout.
