This technology not only offers higher energy density, but also allows for faster charging speeds and improved durability. Compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries, silicon-carbon batteries offer greater capacity in a compact design, extending battery life without increasing the weight or thickness of the phone.

Several flagship smartphones launching in late 2024 and early 2025 will feature this advanced battery technology, which will bring significant improvements in power efficiency, thermal management, and charging cycles. Here are the five latest smartphones equipped with silicon-carbon batteries and their highlights:

1. OnePlus 13

OnePlus 13

The OnePlus 13 has a 6,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery with an energy density of 805Wh/L, the highest for a dual-cell design. This allows the phone to maintain a compact form factor while still providing long-lasting battery life. The device supports 100W SuperVOOC wired charging, which charges the phone from 0 to 100% in just 36 minutes, along with 50W fast wireless charging and magnetic charging support.

 

The OnePlus 13 features a 6.82-inch BOE X2 2K+ AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits and DisplayMate A++ certification. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The phone retains the Sony LYT-808 50MP main camera, 50MP 3X periscope telephoto lens, and 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera. It is also IP68 and IP69 rated, making it highly dust and water resistant.

The iQOO 13 is equipped with a 6,150 mAh third-generation silicon-carbon battery, supporting 120W wired fast charging, which can fully charge the battery in just 30 minutes. Although there is no wireless charging, it has 44W UFCS charging and 100W PPS charging, ensuring a flexible and efficient power management system. The phone also integrates a 360° surround antenna system, optimizing network performance for mobile gaming.

The iQOO 13 features a 6.82-inch BOE Q10 2K+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 4,500 nits. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. In terms of cameras, the iQOO 13 features a 50MP Sony IMX921 primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP 2x telephoto lens.

3. Vivo X200 and X200 Pro

Vivo X200 and X200 Pro

The Vivo X200 is equipped with a 5,800 mAh silicon-carbon battery with 90W wired fast charging, while the Vivo X200 Pro comes with a 6,000 mAh battery that supports 90W wired charging and 30W wireless charging.

Both phones are powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 9400 chip and come with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The X200 Pro also includes a 200MP Samsung HP9 periscope telephoto camera with Zeiss APO certification, offering 3.7x optical zoom and OIS. The series is IP69+IP68 rated for dust and water resistance, for durability.

Redmi K80 and K80 Pro

The Redmi K80 Pro is equipped with a 6,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery that supports 120W fast charging and 50W wireless charging, while the standard Redmi K80 is equipped with a 6,550 mAh battery with 90W fast charging but no wireless charging support. Xiaomi claims that the new silicon-carbon material helps increase battery life and reduce heat dissipation during high-performance tasks.

The K80 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, while the K80 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, both devices come with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The Pro variant has a 50MP Light Fusion 800 main sensor with OIS, a 50MP 2.5x telephoto camera, and a 32MP ultra-wide camera, while the standard K80 swaps the telephoto lens for an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Both phones are IP68 + IP69 rated for dust and water resistance.

5. Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro

Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro

The Xiaomi 15 is equipped with a 5,400 mAh silicon-carbon battery, supporting 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, while the 15 Pro increases the battery capacity to 6,100 mAh, supporting 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The Pro model's battery also has an extremely high energy density of 850Wh/L, ensuring longer life and higher performance.

Both devices feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The Xiaomi 15 boasts a 50MP Light Fusion 900 main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP 2.6X telephoto camera, while the 15 Pro has a 5X periscope telephoto lens.
