Apple does not support iPhone 6s, 7 and SE 2016 to update iOS 16

Apple announced details about the new iOS 16 operating system at the WWDC 2022 Worldwide Developers Conference, including which phones are eligible for the update.

Accordingly, to download iOS 16, you need to use iPhone 8 or later, which means that iPhone 6S, iPhone 7 and iPhone SE 2016 will not be supported by Apple with iOS 16.

The first iPhone 7 and iPhone SE were released in 2016, while the iPhone 6S was released in 2015, which means they have received almost 6-7 years of software support respectively. Honestly, this has been a very welcome effort from Apple compared to other Android phones.

Although Samsung and Google have made significant strides in software, their mid-range and flagship devices only receive up to five years of security updates.

The recent iPhone SE succeeded with the 2022 version keeping the Home button but with a few design changes. If you own an iPhone 6S, 7 and SE 2016 because you love the Home button, you don't need to worry too much. With what Apple has done, we can believe that the iPhone SE 2022 will still receive software updates until the end of this decade.
