The first Trojan takes advantage of Skype
Cybercriminals are attacking computer users with a new dangerous program, hiding in the form of an updated version of the popular Internet phone application Skype launched late September.
The latest variant of IRCBot Trojan is able to self-replicate and spread via e-mail with 5 different topics such as "Skype for Windows 1.4 - Do you have a new program?".The message content advertises VoIP application and encourages people to click on the attachment.
After the file is opened, IRCBot will display an installation error message, block access to sites that provide security tools, and set up a backdoor on the computer.
These e-mails appear at medium speed.US security company MessageLabs has received 150 e-mails since October 16.IRCBot is considered the first Trojan to use the name Skype as a "decoy".
Hackers are always looking for new topics to entice users to download malicious code. They install Trojans in pornographic images, security software, messages from system administrators, news photos and information about celebrities .
