Telegram and Telegram X suddenly disappeared from the App Store

Telegram messaging app has an iOS version with companion Telegram X. But unexpectedly, both were deleted from the App Store for unknown reasons.

The incident took place immediately after Telegram announced the rewrite of Telegram X for Android. Telegram X on iOS is also in beta. Both versions on Google Play are intact.

'We have been informed by Apple that there are inappropriate content and both applications have been removed from the App Store,' said Pavel Durov, founder and CEO of Telegram on Twitter.

According to TechCrunch , Apple's guidelines say certain content must be filtered out, a mechanism to report back and block users. Maybe some of this content of Telegram has been ignored.

Not really clear what made Telegram disappear from the App Store

Later, Durov also posted on Twitter saying that the app has returned to the App Store.

Telegram is popular by its security, end-to-end encryption capabilities to keep chat content confidential. But this is also why this app is criticized by many governments for being very beneficial to terrorists.

Telegram X is a faster version of Telegram and also saves battery life.

Apple has yet to comment on this.
