Samsung has just announced that it has begun mass production of the latest 6Gb LPDDR3 DRAM chips for mobile devices. They are created using a 20nm manufacturing process and are designed for high-performance smartphones and tablets by increasing data transfer rates up to 2,133Mbps.
A set of RAM 3GB LPDDR3 using four 6Gb LPDDR3 chips will be 20% smaller and energy consumption is 10% lower than 3GB RAM being used on Galaxy Note 4. The 20nm process also has high performance 30% more than 30nm process.
In March, Samsung also adopted the 20nm process on 4Gb DDR3 RAM chips for PC. This is the first time Samsung has pursued DRAM production for mobile. In the future, Samsung plans to introduce a series of DRAM chips for mobile on the 20nm process.
