NoScript is a popular user privacy protection extension for Firefox over the past 14 years. This extension is one of the reasons that users have a sense of security to choose to use Firefox browser instead of other browsers such as Chrome.
Today, NoScript has a version for Chrome browser. NoScript versions in Firefox and Chrome share a source code base and in the future can support other browsers.
Similar to the version for Firefox WebExtension, NoScript for Chrome also adds icons to the Chrome toolbar to indicate that content is blocked. When visiting a website, to see the tracker embedded in the website, simply click the NoScript icon.
There are three options:
- TRUSTED: Total trust.
- Temp. TRUSTED: Temporary trust.
- UNTRUSTED: Unreliable. This labeled content will not be downloaded, including ads.
NoScript is a great choice to help you manage information better, ensure more privacy and avoid being bothered by ads.
Currently, the NoScript version for Chrome has not been updated with the XSS Filter feature because the browser extension tool does not support some features that Mozilla has added to Firefox.
