Microsoft turns a blind eye to the tool that activates all versions of Windows and Office

A newly updated open source tool allows activating most versions of Windows and the Office suite.

Windows is still the most popular operating system for desktop and laptop computers. To use Windows legally, users need to buy a license from Microsoft as a way to help the company maintain and develop the operating system.

However, there are a number of unofficial Windows activation methods that have emerged that allow users to use the operating system without paying a fee. The most popular of these is MAS (Microsoft Activation Scripts) developed by the Massgrave team. This tool has been proven to activate all versions of Windows since Windows 7 and all versions of Office since Office 2013.

Now, Massgrave has introduced a new tool called TSforge, which they claim is one of the most powerful activation tools ever developed. TSforge works by directly targeting Windows' digital rights management (DRM) system, specifically the Software Protection Platform (SPP), instead of exploiting other activation methods.

According to Techspot, with MAS version 3.0 equipped with TSforge, users can activate many add-ons for commercial Windows licenses, including the Extended Security Update (ESU) program for some versions of Windows 7 to 10. In addition, users can also extend updates for Windows 10 through the methods previously explored for Windows 7.

So is MAS a copyright infringement? Although it could be considered a copyright infringement, Microsoft doesn't seem to have taken any action. Interestingly, MAS is hosted on GitHub, a platform owned by Microsoft. That means Microsoft has the right to take down the project at any time, but so far it hasn't. There are even reports that some Microsoft employees have used MAS to activate Windows when other methods have failed.

Even though it has surpassed Microsoft's activation tool, the Massgrave team still praises SPP, saying it is an advanced and well-built DRM system that is a step up from Windows XP's DRM systems.
