Microsoft redesigned Paint and Photos on Windows 11
On Windows 11, Microsoft has refreshed many applications including Microsoft Paint and Photos. The interface of these two applications has been updated in a modern style to match the design language of Windows 11.
Users have long expected Microsoft to release a new interface for both Windows and applications when the metro interface and ribbon menu are too old. After launching Windows 11 with many interface changes, Microsoft is also updating the "new face" for many applications such as Clock, Voice Recorder, Calculator, Office, Notepad, Snipping Tool, Photos and Microsoft Paint.
Photos of new versions of Microsoft Paint and Photos have been officially shared by Microsoft. Accordingly, Microsoft Paint will remove the traditional ribbon menu to replace it with a Fluent header similar to the new File Explorer and more suitable for the Windows 11 operating system.
As you can see in the image, Microsoft Paint has simplified the toolbar. The ribbon interface has been replaced with the Fluent header and it has all the important options like File, Edit, brushes.
On the header, you will see simple icons for performing tasks (like changing brushes with pencil, copy, paste.). Undo/redo buttons will now appear next to File and View options on the header. Of course, the new Microsoft Paint also has rounded corners and WinUI controls similar to Windows 11 overall.
For now, it doesn't appear that Microsoft Paint will have any new features or improvements other than interface changes. However, this may change when Windows 11 is officially launched later this year.
Regarding the Photos application, Microsoft also updated the new interface and improved both performance and features. The Photos app will now have a new photo editing experience, with editing tools floating above the photo, similar to the apps for Android and iOS.
Microsoft is also developing many new applications for Windows 11. The software giant will slowly roll out these software to Windows Insider users to get feedback to further improve the user experience.
