Movement and running
The character moves using the WASD key combination and observes with the mouse. The game doesn't have a dash key, so choosing a hiding spot right at the start of the preparation phase is crucial. Get to the location first and then activate the paint mode to save time. The Ctrl key allows you to crouch to hide in low areas or create a more natural camouflage pose.
Control the drawing tools.
Press F to open drawing mode. Here, you can select colors, adjust RGB or Hex, and change parameters such as gloss and roughness. The most useful tool is the Eyedropper, which allows you to directly pick up color from the surrounding surface for precise camouflage. Use the left mouse button to paint and the middle mouse button to rotate the view, helping to fill every side of the character.
Tip : Always take color samples directly from the surface you intend to camouflage instead of choosing colors manually.
Stance control and stealth
Press R to open the posture menu and select a stance that suits your environment. When clinging to a wall or object, use Space to raise your position, Ctrl to lower it, and Shift to move away from the surface. Adjusting your position correctly will help you blend in with wall art, shelves, or other objects.
Seeker controller
Seeker uses a similar navigation system, but with added tools to aid in tracking.
- Left mouse button : Mark a suspicious player.
- Key 2 : Turn nameplate on/off.
- Key 3 : Turn on the paint-through viewing mode.
- Key 1 : Provocation.
- T key : Chat
When searching, observe the shape and posture instead of relying solely on color.
Supports controllers and Steam Deck.
MECCHA CHAMELEON currently does not support official controllers on Steam. The game can still be played on Steam Decks, but you need to use a community-created control layout. Coloring with a trackpad or touchscreen will be more accurate than using analog sticks.
How to reset the joystick
Open Settings from the main menu or pause menu to change the keys. After making the changes, it's recommended to test them in a private room before entering a match. If the update changes the settings, restore the defaults and reassign the necessary keys.
