It's that time again! December is the time for platforms and services to summarize, count and announce their achievements throughout the year. Edge is no exception.
Microsoft has just shared detailed statistics about its browser platform in 2024. Although the report is not specific to individual users, it also revealed interesting facts about the usage trends of Microsoft browsers over the past 12 months.
Copilot is a key focus of the Microsoft ecosystem's innovation experience today, and Edge is no exception. In 2024, Edge users had more than 10 billion conversations with Copilot using the browser. Bing - Microsoft's search engine that launched the Copilot era as "Bing Chat" and is the default search engine in Edge - reached 140 million daily active users. Additionally, users read more than 800 million articles on the MSN platform.
Moving from services to features, we have Edge's built-in translation engine that has processed 38 trillion characters, 48 million messages, and files transferred across devices using Drop (a very handy feature that lets you send files and notes between PCs and mobile devices). Notably, Edge has helped save $400/year per user with its built-in shopping assistant.
Microsoft also revealed how the performance-focused features improve the browsing experience for users:
In addition to the announcement post on the official Windows Blogs website, Microsoft also published an interactive page where Edge users can review the Year in Review 2024. Here, you will also find some notable features, such as tab arrangement, Immersive Reader, vertical tabs, Wallet, Shopping Assistant, etc.
