Jackal 3 – British high-mobility fighting vehicle
Jackal 3 is the latest variant of the Jackal high-mobility combat vehicle line currently serving in the British Army.
This vehicle was jointly developed by British companies Babcock and Supacat as part of a land-based military industrial strategy to promote cooperation between the British Ministry of Defense and the country's defense industry.
Jackal 3 is 5.79m long, 2.05m wide, 2.44m high and has a total weight of 7.6 tons. Using a 6-cylinder diesel engine with a capacity of 180 horsepower, the car can reach a maximum speed of 120km/h, wade in water 1m deep and have a range of 800km.
Jackal 3 has a 4×4 configuration, but the vehicle can be converted into a 6-wheel drive vehicle thanks to a new suspension system, which doubles the load capacity compared to its predecessor. The vehicle is enhanced with anti-rollover capabilities, as well as the ability to operate flexibly in bumpy terrain, slopes, tight corners. In addition, the vehicle has many improved features, especially anti-detection. , electromagnetic compatibility, infrared light system helps optimize covert operations and night combat.
Jackal 3 can be equipped with a variety of weapons such as multi-purpose machine guns, heavy machine guns and smoke grenade launchers. The vehicle is also equipped with surveillance, reconnaissance and data collection equipment, and a vehicle protection kit against mines and homemade explosive devices.
Babcock and Supacat began production of 70 Jackal 3 vehicles last February and production is expected to be completed this summer. In the future, these two contractors can produce up to 240 highly mobile combat vehicles for the British armed forces, depending on operational requirements.
