How to Use Memoji Stickers on iPhone or iPad

Method 1 of 5:
Creating a Custom Memoji
- Open Messages
- Tap
- Tap the Animoji icon. It has an icon that resembles a monkey face. It's below the text box where you enter your messages.
- If you don't see these icons, tap the App Store icon with a capital "A" to display app icons below your message bar.
- Animojis and Memojis are not available on older model iPhones and iPads. In order to use Animojis, you need iOS 12 or later with an iPhone X or newer, or a 3rd-generation iPad Pro or later.
- Tap +. It's the blue plus (+) icon next to your Animoji sticker icons on the left. This opens the Memoji creation tool.
- Select a part type to customize. Tap a tab at the top of the page to select a part type to customize. Swipe left or right on the tabs to scroll through the tabs. Parts you can customize include the following:
- Skin
- Hairstyle
- Head Shape
- Eyes
- Brows
- Nose & Lips
- Ears
- Facial Hair
- Eyewear
- Headwear.
- Select a color. Some part types, such as skin, hairstyle, eyes, and eyewear allow you to select a color. Tap one of the swatch circles to select a color. Then use the slider bar below the swatches to adjust the color tint.
- Some parts allow you to select different colors for different features. Glasses allow you to select a different color for the frames and lenses. Hairstyle allows you to select a hair color and a separate color for highlights.
- If you don't see the color you want as one of the default colors, scroll to the right and tap the icon that resembles multiple colored circles to display more colors.
- Select a custom part. Most part types display a list of images you can tap to select a part. Tap the image that most closely resembles the part you want to select.
- You can select your age under "Head shape".
- Tap Done. Once you are happy with the way your Memoji looks, tap Done in the upper-right corner. This saves your Memoji alongside all the Animojis in your list.
- To edit, duplicate or delete a Memoji, Open it in Messages and tap the icon with three dots in the lower-left corner. Tap Edit to open the Memoji in the editor. Tap Duplicate to create a copy of your Memoji. Tap Delete to permanently erase your Memoji.

Using Memoji Sticker Packs
- Open a messaging app. Memoji sticker packs can be used in a variety of apps such as Messages, Mail, and other third-party apps that support images. They can be sent as an email or Twitter attachment, or a WhatsApp message.[1]
- Open the keyboard. Tap the message box where you type a message to open the keyboard.
- Tap the Stickers icon. It's the icon with three faces. This displays different sticker packs.
- If you don't see the Stickers icon at the top of the keyboard, tap the blue App Store icon with a capital "A".
- Tap a Memoji. Memojis and Animojis are displayed at the top of the keyboard. Tap a Memoji to display a sticker pack for that Memoji.
- Swipe up on the screen to see the list of stickers in full screen mode.[2]
- Tap a sticker. This displays the sticker in the message thread or text field.
- Some apps allow you to add a message or caption to the Memoji. To add a caption, tap Add Comment below the Memoji and type a message.
- Tap the Send icon. This sends the Memoji sticker as an image. On most Apple apps, this is a blue icon with an arrow pointing up. Third-party apps may have their own Send icon, such as an icon that resembles a paper airplane, or a button that says "Post" or "Send".

Using Custom Memojis Stickers in Messages
- Open Messages
- Tap
- Tap the Animoji icon. It has an icon that resembles a monkey face. It's below the text box where you enter your messages.
- If you don't see these icons, tap the App Store icon with a capital "A" to display app icons below your message bar.
- Animojis and Memojis are not available on older model iPhones and iPads. In order to use Animojis, you need iOS 12 or later with an iPhone X or newer, or a 3rd-generation iPad Pro or later.
- Tap a Memoji you want to use. Memojis you have created are listed to the right of the Animoji icons.
- Look at the camera and make a face. The Memoji you choose will mimic your facial expression.
- Tap and drag the Memoji into the message thread. To add a still Memoji sticker to a message, simply tap and hold the Memoji and drag it into the message thread. This sends a Memoji sticker to your conversation recipient.[3]
- Alternatively, you can tap the red circular icon in the lower-right corner to record a brief message with your Memoji. You can record up to 30 seconds. Tap the icon with the red square in the lower-right corner to stop recording. Then tap the blue icon with an arrow pointing up in the lower-right corner to send your message.

Using Memojis in Facetime
- Open Facetime. Facetime has a green icon that resembles a video camera. Tap the icon on your home screen to open Facetime.
- Place a call. To place a call on Facetime, tap the plus (+) icon in the upper-right corner. Tap a contact and wait for your contact to answer the call.
- Tap the icon that resembles a star. It's in the lower-left corner. This is the effects icon.
- Tap the Animoji icon. It's the icon that resembles a monkey face.
- Animojis and Memojis are not available on older model iPhones and iPads. In order to use Animojis, you need iOS 12 or later with an iPhone X or newer, or a 3rd-generation iPad Pro or later.
- Tap a Memoji. This replaces your face with an animated Memoji face. It mimics your lips and face movements.
- To stop using the Memoji, tap the "X" icon to turn it off.
Method 5 of 5:
Using Memoji Camera Effects
- Open Messages
- Tap
- Tap the camera icon. It's next to the text box where you enter messages. This opens the camera app.
- Tap Photo or Video. Depending on what you want to do, tap Photo or Video to take a photo or video.
- Tap the icon that resembles a star. It's in the lower-right corner. This opens the camera effects.
- Tap the Animoji icon. It's the icon that resembles a monkey face.
- Animojis and Memojis are not available on older model iPhones and iPads. In order to use Animojis, you need iOS 12 or later with an iPhone X or newer, or a 3rd-generation iPad Pro or later.
- Tap a Memoji icon. This replaces your face with the Memoji you chose in the camera image.
- You can add additional effects on top of the Memoji filter.
- Tap the X icon. This closes out of the animoji menu.
- Take a photo or video. Press the large grey circular button at the bottom of the screen to take a photo or video.
- Tap X. When you are happy with how your photo or video looks, tap the "x" icon.
- Alternatively, you can tap the blue icon with an up arrow to send the photo or video immediately.
