Usually .doc text files are converted into Scrap.shs format when you drag and drop something from MS Word, MS Excel to Desktop or My Computer, etc. Sometimes when you only copy .doc text files from Windows XP to USB or send mail, your files will also be converted into .shs format.
The common case I have encountered is to receive mail from other people to send it to the file received as Scrap.shs. Quite angry. However, the treatment is also very simple.
.Shs file with Windows XP users, using Microsoft Office 2003, it can be opened very easily, normally as a .doc text file.
So if you're using Windows XP, double-click to open the .shs file normally. Then choose Save copy as . to save as a regular .doc file.
You use Win 7, how to read this file?
This is a more difficult problem. Because reading .shs files on Windows 7, usually running Office 2007 or 2010, 2013, you'll see an error message. Opened file is in the form of a square, error and unreadable.
How to handle reading the .shs file on Windows 7
Step 1: Download the error correction file to your computer!

Step 2: Unzip the zipped file that you downloaded in the previous step to the SHS Doc file folder Open the folder above and you will see the following 2 files:
shscrap.dll and shscrap.reg
Step 3: Copy the file shscrap.dll and Paste into the following folder: C: Windows System32
Note: If you are running Windows 7 64 bit, you need to copy that file to the C: WindowsSysWOW64 folder to open it!
Step 4: Run the file shscrap.reg in the directory you just extracted . You will see a message asking if you are running or not.
Select Yes => Yes => OK
Step 5: Right-click the file Srap.shs and select Open with . => Select Sell scrap object handler to open!
Step 6: Do the above steps you have opened Scrap.shs file as normal text file on Office. To convert back to a regular .doc file so that every computer can read it, please save the file by the following way: choose Save copy as . to save it as a regular .doc file.
Above is a small experience on how to read the file format ending in .shs. When receiving mail sent with shs files, or when the copy is converted into such format, you have nothing to be confused or copy again!
Just do the above steps and you can read the .SHS file easily on Win 7. Wish you success!
