How to change when Siri can respond to requests.

Depending on the situation, Siri's response may not always be the most appropriate. Fortunately, you can change Siri's behavior in the settings menu.

Go to Siri settings > select Siri Voice Feedback to see the available options.

The options (on iOS 13) include:

  • Always On: Siri will provide voice feedback even when the ringer is set to silent.
  • Control with Ring Switch : Siri will mute all audio feedback when you set the ring switch to silent. You will continue to hear Siri beep and receive voice feedback when using "Hey Siri" or when connected to a Bluetooth or CarPlay device.
  • Hands -Free Only: Siri will beep and provide voice feedback when you're using "Hey Siri" or when connected to a Bluetooth device, headset, or CarPlay.

On iOS 14 , the three options changed slightly: Always (Siri responds even when silent mode is on), With Silent Mode Off or with "Hey Siri" , and Only with "Hey Siri" .
