How to Mark Items, Enemies, and Map Locations in PUBG Mobile

Use Universal Mark, quick chat, and map pings to share supplies, enemy positions, vehicles, and squad destinations clearly in PUBG Mobile.

Table of Contents

PUBG Mobile lets a squad mark destinations, supplies, vehicles, death crates, doors, and enemy directions without using voice chat. Aim at the object and tap the Universal Mark control, or use the quick-chat message that identifies the item. A corresponding icon appears in the world and on the minimap for teammates.

The screenshots below show the older quick-chat method. Current versions also provide a Universal Mark button or marker wheel, which is usually faster.

Mark an item for teammates

  1. Stand close enough to the item for its name to appear and place the center reticle over it. You do not need to aim down sights.
  2. Tap the Universal Mark button once. If your layout uses quick chat instead, open quick chat and choose the contextual I have… or item message.
  3. Confirm that the item's name, quantity, and marker appear for the squad.

PUBG Mobile's version 3.2 notes state that universal-mark and quick-chat supply markers can show the quantity of the marked item. If only a generic location appears, move closer and center the reticle on the object before marking again.

Mark a destination on the map

  1. Open the full map.
  2. Tap the intended landing point, rotation, or meeting position.
  3. Drag or place the marker precisely enough that it does not sit on the wrong side of a road, river, or building.
  4. Close the map and check the distance and direction shown on screen.

During the flight, a destination marker helps the squad coordinate the drop. Before a ground rotation, use a second mark or a brief quick-chat message to distinguish “go here now” from an old landing marker.

Mark enemies and danger

A danger mark is most useful when it identifies a direction and landmark, not just a vague area. Center the reticle on the window, rock, tree, or ridge where the opponent was seen, then use the enemy/danger mark. Do not repeatedly spam the button; several overlapping pings hide the important one.

  • Refresh the mark when the enemy changes cover.
  • Use a short voice or quick-chat detail such as “second floor” if available.
  • Mark the observed position, not the place you think the enemy might eventually move.
  • Remove or replace an old danger mark after the threat is cleared.

Configure Universal Mark

PUBG Mobile introduced Universal Marks for locations, supplies, vehicles, death crates, and doors, with teammate responses and preferred settings. The official 0.17.0 patch notes document those supported targets.

Open Settings > Controls or the current mark settings and check that Universal Mark is enabled and placed where it can be tapped without blocking aim. Version 4.4 added an optional marker-wheel style with a microphone quick switch; enable that layout if it is available and easier to use.

Useful squad marking habits

  • Share scarce items: Mark a high-level vest, useful scope, healing item, or ammunition that matches a teammate's weapon.
  • Acknowledge marks: Respond so the squad knows whether the item or route is still needed.
  • Do not mark every object: Prioritize items that change a loadout or solve a known shortage.
  • Keep routes current: Remove a destination once the zone or threat makes it obsolete.
  • Pair marks with inventory discipline: TipsMake's backpack guide helps identify which spare supplies are worth sharing.

If marking does not work

  • Check that the Universal Mark control is enabled and not hidden behind another custom button.
  • Move closer to an item and keep the reticle on its model until the name appears.
  • Download any pending game update; squad members on mismatched versions may not share all features correctly.
  • Reset the quick-chat list if the contextual item message was removed.
  • Test the button in Training Grounds before changing the entire control layout.

Good marks are brief, accurate, and current. They should reduce squad uncertainty rather than replace every conversation.
