Many malicious applications have been downloaded by Android users, making the malicious code inside them potentially devastating about 1.3 million Google accounts. This malicious code collects data from an infected phone and installs a rootkit. Once the phone is rooted, the email accounts will be stolen and the type of code installed inside the application will force the machine to install more malicious applications.
Hackers are given access to Google Photos, Google Play, Google Docs and Gmail accounts of users. Those who are using new Android versions (Marshmallow, Nougat) are lucky to not encounter this malicious code. These vulnerabilities appear on Android Jelly Bean, KitKat and Lollipop. About 1.3 million Google accounts are at risk, 57% in Asia, 19% in the Americas, 15% in Africa and 9% in Europe.
