14 games on the App Store contain malicious code, iPhone users be careful
Security researchers Wandera recently discovered 14 games linked to a server once used to control malware Golduck that made the Android world chaotic last year.
Compared to Google Play, Apple's App Store is always rated as an app store with higher security. But this does not mean that the App Store is safe, there are still suspicious applications that bypass Apple's rigorous censorship class.
Specifically, security researchers Wandera recently discovered 14 games linked to a server once used to control malware Golduck that made the Android world chaotic last year. All of these games seem harmless but they actually contain lots of ads. It is dangerous to advertise these games to trick users into allowing the installation of malicious software outside the App Store.
According to estimates, these 14 games have a total of nearly 1 million downloads.
Apple did not make any comment about this incident and currently 14 suspicious games mentioned above can still be downloaded from the App Store, but the company has completely limited them in the US.
This is not the first time security researchers have discovered suspicious applications on the AppStore. The last time, a popular application on Mac App Store was also discovered silently collecting unauthorized browsing history of users, in addition to dozens of other applications on the iPhone also send location data for advertisers.
Therefore, iPhone users need to be cautious before downloading any applications to their device to avoid infection with malware.
Specifically, the list of 14 games infected with malware on the App Store includes:
- Commando Metal: Classic Contra
- Super Pentron Adventure: Super Hard
- Classic Tank vs Super Bomber
- Super Adventure of Maritron
- Roy Adventure Troll Game
- Trap Dungeons: Super Adventure
- Bounce Classic Legend
- Block Game
- Classic Bomber: Super Legend
- Brain It On: Stickman Physics
- Bomber Game: Classic Bomberman
- Classic Brick - Retro Block
- The Climber Brick
