Detect new malicious code to attack Android device
Symantec has discovered a new security threat, dubbed Android.Fakeneflic , that can exploit security holes on the Android device's popular Netflix application.
According to Symantec, the new Trojan works in a way that disguises Netflix software to steal information, mainly user account information.
When users enter their Netflix account information on this fake application, the information will be saved and sent to a server. Then, the software shows a message indicating the incompatibility between the hardware and the software and requires reinstalling the other version of the application. When the user presses the ' Cancel ' button , the software will remove itself from their device.
As recommended by Symantec, to ensure the safety of mobile devices, users should download applications from reliable sources. For example, in the case of Netflix application mentioned above, the best way to get a legitimate Android application is to find the official Android Market app store.
