Users who buy Chromebooks at the present time will receive 1 TB of Google Drive storage within 2 years
According to Google Blog, 1 TB of storage on Google Drive will last for 2 consecutive years (estimated total cost to buy this subscription is 240 USD). Meanwhile, Google is adopting a unified storage policy on its services, which means that 1 TB can be used for both Gmail and Google Drive services.
This offer is implemented by Google from now until the end of January 1, 2015 and only applies to users who buy new Chromebooks.
Currently, a number of Chromebook laptops manufactured by Acer, Samsung or HP, have an offering price of only about 299 USD. The launch of this program by Google is seen as a move to stimulate users to use Chromebooks, because if calculated carefully, the machine value is almost "free".
Chromebooks are pre-installed with Chrome OS operating system developed by Google. This is the operating system built from the Chromium open source platform based on web and cloud computing.
The unique feature of Chrome OS is the ability to boot only about three seconds to access the system, thanks to the exploitation of web-based applications, not to download services, hardware drivers or heavy software programs when booting .
