Facebook starts to evaluate the reliability of users
In order to counter fake information that is increasingly being posted on Facebook, the planet's largest social network has developed a system of user confidence ratings.
Previously, Facebook still relied on user reports to identify problematic content but not every report was correct. There have been many cases where users report posts that are incorrect, leading to a war of information that Facebook needs to start taking into account.
Tessa Lyons, product manager responsible for misinformation, said that a user reported to Facebook a wrong content because they disagreed with the premise of a story or intended to target one. Specific goals happen quite a lot.
But with this new rating system, users will be given more options. Users evaluate reliability on a scale of 0 to 1, but it is not the only measure to show a person's credibility. This rating is just one of thousands of behavioral expressions that Facebook relies on for evaluation. It is not clear whether Facebook will allow all users to be graded or other measures it is using to determine what the user's score is .
