Immediately after discovering an error in this upgrade, Microsoft removed Update Rollup 4 from the upgrade engine and warned those who installed this new version of the possibility of causing Update Rollup 4 to fail. Exchange Web Service - Exchange Web Service (EWS).

Some users have complained that they cannot update the Exchange Server after installing this new update, others have more grief results: Update Rollup 4 has caused my server to turn into bricks, services cannot start up and cannot uninstall this upgrade version, and it takes all day to start over.

Microsoft suggests that those who have installed Update Rollup 4 should uninstall it and reinstall the Update Rollup 3.

However, this is not easy - just like Microsoft engineers have noticed, many cases cannot remove Update Rollup 4 or have problems after removing it. Scott Roberts, an engineer with the Exchange group at Microsoft, said that after removing Update Rollup 4, the EWS could not read configuration files; The administrator must open the configuration file and manually edit the wrong path names.

Microsoft did not provide information about the time it will release the official Update Rollup 4 version, however, there is insider information that it will be released on the last Tuesday of the month, possibly 23 September 2008.

Reacting to this, some users have stated: This issue is really unacceptable, this update was released by Microsoft Update and we have no alternative but to leave via the automatic update mode of the computer.

Microsoft has apologized on Exchange's blog, and promised to fix it soon so as not to repeat the same mistakes. This is not the first time that Microsoft upgrade has errors. In June and July, the company also had to patch two bugs in the upgrade device, including WSUS.
