Control Panel on Windows 11 is about to be omitted an extremely useful feature
As simple and useful as it is, this 'classic' feature seems to be gradually being phased out by Microsoft on Windows 11. This can easily be seen on a newly released preview build, where Microsoft is directing people to the Settings menu when they want to uninstall an application on the system, instead of Microsoft as before.
More specifically, in a blog post detailing the Windows 11 Insider build of 22523 for the Dev channel, Microsoft gave a little bit of information about the future of the option to uninstall programs on Windows: 'Links Linking to Programs & Features in Control Panel will now open to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps'.
So basically, Microsoft is trying to direct users to Settings instead of Control Panel when they want to uninstall applications. This is also part of a plan to gradually phase out the old method of changing options in Windows, as well as reform the functionality of the Control Panel that Microsoft is implementing.
This also means that Microsoft will completely remove the option to uninstall programs from the Control Panel in the near future. First, they redirect users to Settings but still leave this functionality in the Control Panel. Then proceed to completely remove this feature from the Control Panel. In fact, the latest Windows 11 Dev preview has also moved the Uninstall Updates option from Control Panel, and moved it to Settings as a new settings item.
In general, this is basically not a big change, but it may cause a little surprise for those who are used to using the Control Panel from previous versions of Windows.
