Bringing Skype to Windows 8.1 by default, Microsoft may be sued
Microsoft recently announced that Skype will officially become the default chat application in Windows 8.1, as a sign that this "big man" is making a big bet on the VoIP platform.
However, according to Softpedia, Microsoft may face a lot of trouble in the future. Specifically, bringing Skype into the default chat application could actually lead to an antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft, like what happened with Internet Explorer.
At this point, Skype is the leading VoIP service on the market and there is no doubt that many large and small network companies are trying to provide similar products to be able to confront Skype. . Therefore, the default Skype installation in Windows 8.1 may give Microsoft an unfair advantage.
"Now you don't need to download your favorite application to stay in touch with friends at any time. With Windows 8.1, just log in and you're ready to meet people even if it's far away. This not only means that you will be able to chat with more than 300 million Skype users on many different devices, but also for everyone with just a Windows 8.1 computer, " Microsoft said.
But that will most likely be a big problem for Microsoft. When the default installation of Skype on Windows 8.1 device, it will most likely include desktop, laptop, hybrid device, tablet and mobile phone, will violate the rules competing, so hopefully Microsoft has anticipated these troubles.
