Being fined 5 billion USD by EU, Google threatened to charge Android
Recently, the EU fined Google a fine of about $ 5 billion due to abuse of the monopoly of Android applications. This is the highest antitrust penalty in history. EU decision, forcing Google to separate the Chrome and Search applications from Android and this may make Android no longer free.
Sundar Pichai, Google CEO, outlined the company's response to EU sanctions in a blog post that defended Google's decision to integrate Search and Chrome applications into Android. Pichai said, a regular Android user will install about 50 applications on their own and they can easily uninstall preinstalled applications.
The integration of Search and Chrome application packages into Android makes it available for free and phone manufacturers also benefit from this.
He also stressed that if Google no longer integrates its applications, it will make Google's mobile advertising revenue (accounting for more than 50% of the company's pure digital advertising revenue). will be seriously affected. And this will affect Android's free business model. Therefore, Google will review Android licensing for phone manufacturers.
