Apple releases macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 with fixes for USB Hub
Apple recently released macOS Sonoma 14.4.1, a small update to the macOS Sonoma operating system first launched last September. It is known that this new software appears about 3 weeks after Apple released macOS Sonoma 14.4.
Users can now download the macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 update for free on all eligible Macs using the Software Update section of System Settings. There is also a macOS 13.6.6 release for those still running macOS Ventura.
The macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 update is here to fix an issue that could cause USB hubs connected to external displays to not be recognized. It also resolves an issue that could cause Java applications to quit unexpectedly, and fixes an issue that could cause the Audio Unit plug-in for professional music applications to fail to open.
All three of these errors are notable issues that Mac users have reported since macOS 14.4 launched. Oracle warned users about the Java issue last week and advised Apple silicon Mac users that rely on Java to pause updates to macOS 14.4 if possible. The company has also had some reports of problems with the hub and display from customers who have installed the latest version of macOS.
