Apple announced iOS 14 with a series of new features
Apple has just had its opening speech WWDC 2020 with the launch of its next major software updates, most notably iOS 14 for iPhone and iPod Touch devices.
According to Neowin , the first is the App Library - a feature similar to the application tray that has been on other platforms for years. This will be the last page on the main screen where users can find applications with a search field, recently added apps and smart suggestions. It also displays the most used applications. Moreover, users can also hide the entire application page as well as hide applications from the home screen.
Next is Widgets, where they come in different shapes and sizes. But more importantly, users can add widgets to the home screen, something that Android has long had iOS users crave.
Another new feature is the picture-in-picture feature, which previously appeared on the iPad but now comes with the iPhone. With it, users can move around, resize .
Apple has also added a new Translator app to use for actual conversations. This is part of intelligence improvement, including a smarter Siri. In fact, the Siri user interface has also been overhauled.
The Messages app continues to bring new enhancements, where users can pin conversations to the top, so things like 2-factor authentication (2FA) notifications won't send messages that users pay attention to the bottom as before. Apple also mentioned the notification function when someone mentioned the user in a group message conversation.
There is also a new animation when a user receives a message. Memoji, meanwhile, is getting new faces and age options.
For Maps, users get a new bike option and they can now navigate tram routes. In particular, the last function allows iOS to understand how to charge a car battery and direct users to charging stations.
CarPlay also added a few new features, such as new wallpapers. In addition, many categories of applications that support it, such as parking, charging, etc. are also available. Apple is even considering allowing users to unlock their cars with iPhones, starting with BMW models.
Finally, the newly announced App Clips displays the parts of the app by touching the phone to something. App Clips can work anywhere, such as at stores, on products…. Users can use the Login function with Apple and use Apple Pay without having to enter any personal details.
As usual, iOS 14 will ship in the fall of this year, which is when the iPhone 12 is officially launched and launched. In addition, Apple also said that iOS 14 will work on iPhone 6S and later - devices that are supporting iOS 13 will be updated to this latest version.
