Adiantum, Google's new encryption method helps ensure safety for all Android devices
Currently, besides the majority of Android devices encoded with AES standards, there are still cheap smartphones without hardware support for AES due to low-end processors. So, with the goal of bringing memory encryption to low-cost Android devices while ensuring their performance, Google recently officially launched a new encryption method called Adiantum.
According to Google's statement, Adiantum can help every Android device be encrypted regardless of how much it costs, hardware is low or strong. This means that all users are guaranteed privacy and security.
With Adiantum, all personal information of users such as documents, photos or videos stored on Android devices are protected against bad guys.
Adiantum is expected to be released later this year with Android Q. However, this new technology may not be equipped for high-end or mid-range smartphones. Because according to Google, with devices with hardware support, AES is still a high-speed encryption standard. Therefore, for these devices, the default encryption standard will still be AES.
Eugene Lideman, director of Google's Mobile Security Strategy, said Adiantum is expected to help all devices be equal in terms of security regardless of how much they cost.
