According to The Register's findings, Chrome 80 version added a new feature called ScrollToTextFragment, capable of automatically attaching links on the content of web pages.
Specifically, without the consent of the website owner, ScrollToTextFragment will still allow Google Chrome to link to the words on that page.
Example: "On the island, 60% of a cat's diet is birds." In the "cat" position Chrome will attach a link that takes users to cat-related content.
This feature can be very useful in searching information for users of the site. However, this feature is controversial because many sources believe that ScrollToTextFragment is likely to become a nightmare of invasive personal information.
According to Peter Snyder, Information Security Researcher for the Brave browser, ScrollToTextFragment is an operational flaw that could disrupt information security on the Internet.
Forbes also suggested that the Google launch of dangerous features but not inform users is difficult to accept.
Despite the information security issue, the ScrollToTextFragment feature still runs in the background on devices using Chrome browser.
