5 Reasons to Use Amazon Music Instead of Spotify
There are a lot of loyal Spotify users out there. But things change when they try Amazon Music, thanks to its inclusion in their Prime subscription. And despite its long-standing relationship with Spotify , there are a few reasons why Amazon's music streaming service is winning over many users.
5. Amazon Music is included in Prime subscription
You've probably heard about all the usual perks you get when you sign up for Prime, from access to Prime Video to free next-day shipping. Admittedly, despite taking advantage of these perks, many people have completely overlooked Amazon Music, assuming it's just a simpler version of apps like Spotify and YouTube Music .
You'll be amazed at what Amazon Music has to offer. Currently, the platform offers access to 100 million songs, along with thousands of playlists and radio stations. Notably, unlike Spotify's ad-heavy free plan, Amazon Music (included with Prime) is completely ad-free.
4. Diverse Podcast Portfolio
There are plenty of great podcast apps for Android and iOS, and Spotify is certainly a popular one. However, many people prefer the podcast selection that Amazon Music offers, especially since it offers an ad-free experience for Prime users. If you use the Amazon Music app, there's a dedicated podcasts tab , and navigating this section is easy and intuitive.
You can easily discover top podcasts in different genres and also access Amazon Originals. Podcasts you like can be downloaded for offline listening and you can add them to playlists, which is quite handy.
3. Seamless hands-free listening with Alexa
One of my favorite features of Amazon Music is that Alexa is built into the app, making it easy to use the music streaming service hands-free. All you have to do is open the app, tap the Alexa icon (located on the right), and say your request out loud. This is especially useful if you're cooking or driving.
2. You get lossless audio with Amazon Music Unlimited
If you decide to go the extra mile and sign up for Amazon Music Unlimited, one of the biggest perks you can take advantage of is lossless audio. The only downside is that it's not free. While you get access to Amazon Music at no extra cost, Amazon Music Unlimited costs $11/month for Prime members. So while it's not for everyone, it's definitely worth paying for if audio quality is important to you.
If you're not sure if it makes a significant difference, try the 4-month free trial (if you're not a Prime member, you get a 3-month free trial).
1. Impressive interface
Spotify's interface isn't problematic or intuitive by any means. But if you spend a lot of time using Amazon Music, you'll start to like its simpler layout. The home page is clutter-free and it's easy to switch between songs and podcasts. Searching for tracks via the search bar or specific genres/moods is just as easy. You can also easily navigate to your playlists, downloads, song history, etc. by simply clicking on the Library icon .
Amazon Music isn't without its flaws, but it's a solid choice if you're looking for a music and podcast streaming platform that excels in every way. It's easy to navigate, has a great selection of music and podcasts, and the value is hard to beat. So if you haven't tried it, you should check it out for yourself, especially if you're already a Prime member.
