4 Extension helps improve memory performance of Firefox

Network Administration - It can be said that Firefox is a monster in consuming memory. It consumes your memory like it won't be tomorrow. Load a few more tabs of Firefox and the browser starts to slow down (or maybe even crash on some low-memory computers). This is also the main reason many users abandon this browser and switch to Google Chrome. If you feel troubled about memory problems but can't switch to another browser for some reason, here are 4 extensions that can fix and reduce memory problems, make you feel happy to use Firefox for my work.

1. BarTab

Tabs are the most valuable features of all browsers, but it is also one of the most memory consuming things in Firefox. Try loading from 10 to 20 tabs and you will see your system almost stand still. BarTab works by loading only the tabs you're using actively. When a tab is idle for a certain amount of time, it is automatically uploaded to free up memory space. This is the concept you only pay what you are using.

When restoring a session with multiple tabs, you can configure BarTab so that the program doesn't load all tabs. The tab is only loaded when it is in a positive state.

2. Memory Fox ( Windows only)

Memory Fox is an extension for restoring dynamic RAM, the program will try to reduce and provide maintenance when there is a requirement of the application's raw resources. It is an extension that only works in Windows, the best part of the extension is that you can see the difference right away. The figure below shows the memory usage before and after installing Memory Fox. Reduce about 50% of Firefox's memory resource usage.

After installation, you need to activate it via Tools -> Memory Fox -> Activate Memory Fox . After activating, you will see an icon in the status bar.

3. Load Tabs Progressively

From the same point of view as BarTab, there was a slight difference in functionality, Load Tabs Progressively limited the number of tabs loaded simultaneously. That means that, when you restore a session with 20 tabs, only 3 tabs (or a certain number you can configure in the settings) will be loaded simultaneously. When these 3 tabs finish loading, the tab next to the third tab will be loaded.

Unlike BarTab, however, LTP will load all tabs, so this is a useful extension for those who need to load all tabs when opening Firefox without wanting it to slow down their system.

Note : It seems that Load Tabs Progressively does not work well with NoScript extension.

4. Reload Tabs Progressively

Not confused with Load Tabs Progressively, extension only works when you use the 'Reload all Tabs' function. When you reload all tabs, this extension will limit the number of tabs loaded simultaneously.

In other words, if you set '3' to be the largest number for reloading tabs and there are currently 4 tabs open, the 'reload all tabs' command will not reload the fourth tab and reload it after The first tab is loaded.
