On Twitter, founder of AdDuplex, a company specializing in research on Windows Phone (WP) platform, Alan Mendelevich said there was 15% of WP smartphones on the market updated to the GDR3 version.
According to Mendelevich , this update allows Windows Phone handset makers to take advantage of the 1920 x 1080 pixel high resolution screen as well as optimize the power of the Snapdragon quad core processor.
This update also provides data monitoring features using Data Sense and support for roaming background data. It basically prevents an application that uses mobile data from running in the background when the user leaves the service provider's territory. Also, after being updated, the 3G and Wi-Fi icons will signal users when data is transmitted.
Notably, according to data from Mendelevich , the top 12 Windows Phone smartphones updated to GDR3 belong to Nokia's Lumia series.
