Connect Xbox Kinect to Xbox One S/ Xbox One X console

Xbox Kinect is a motion sensing peripheral developed by Microsoft for the Xbox console and Windows PCs. The Xbox Kinect Controller is required to be connected to the Xbox One S and Xbox One X consoles in order for users to use the Xbox One Kinect sensor.

The Kinect sensor is manufactured to be paired with the Xbox One and Xbox 360, but is not compatible with the Xbox Series X/S console . Additionally, when the Kinect and Kinect controller are disconnected, players can still use the Kinect with the Xbox 360 or Xbox One.

1. Setting Up the Kinect Controller with Xbox One S and Xbox One X

Set up the adapter

Connect the power source and Kinect hub

Connect the Kinect sensor and the Kinect hub

Proceed to install the included USB into the Kinect hub

Connect the Xbox Kinect adapter to your Xbox One console

Insert the USB 3.0 cable into the Kinect USB port on the left to establish a connection.

Take care to ensure that the sensor and adapter should have a safe device distance from the control panel for the best and safest connection results.

Click the Xbox button on the control panel

Select Profile & System > Settings > Devices & Streaming

Click on Kinect and follow the corresponding instructions to set up the Xbox sensor.

Note: To connect the Kinect sensor to your Xbox One console simply plug the Kinect sensor cable into the back of the console.

Some problems connecting and using Xbox Kinect

Kinect Xbox may have some basic errors such as: no response, turned off when using Kinect controller,. Some solutions that users can apply are as follows:

1.  Make sure Kinect Sensor is enabled in the control panel. Check in Profile & System > Settings > Devices & Streaming > Kinect
2.  Check the power to the console and it may be necessary to reset the connection between the console and the Kinect sensor
3.  Do not place the Xbox Kinect sensor and adapter directly on the console.
4. When using Kinect, make sure that the adapter is not malfunctioning and interrupting communication. Check the adapter's power supply and reconnect the power if necessary.

The LED on the adapter will indicate whether there is a problem with the power connection. Orange indicates sleep mode and waiting for the controller to respond to the command. No color indicates no power to the device. And white indicates the adapter is working properly.

Connect Xbox Kinect to Windows PC

The way Xbox Kinect works with Windows PC is similar to when used with Xbox One. The Kinect adapter for Windows 10 PC is also compatible with Xbox One, but the Xbox Kinect adapter for Xbox One cannot be used with Windows PC.

How to Connect Xbox Kinect to Windows PC

The main requirement is that the PC operating system must be on Windows 8 or Windows 10.

Drivers must be updated to the latest version from Windows Update

Follow the instructions in the device setup application: Place the Kinect sensor and display horizontally on a flat, stable surface with space between edges. Do not come into close contact with sound-emitting devices or vibrating surfaces.

Make sure the front of the Kinect sensor is not blocked or obstructed by other objects such as power cords, computer cables, etc.

Be aware of other devices that may affect the device's voice recognition signal acquisition process, such as: placing it near other devices with loud noises, fans, stereo speakers, other machines, etc.
