Windows Defender is one of the best antivirus applications in the world

Windows Defender, Windows 10's built-in antivirus program, has made a big step towards becoming one of the best antivirus applications in the world. This is the result of research conducted by security researchers at the German AV-TEST institute.

AV-TEST has tested the latest antivirus tests on Windows Defender. Microsoft's antivirus program achieved a maximum of 6 points in tests that assessed the product's protection, performance and ease of use. This shows that Windows Defender currently offers the same performance as the leading security firms like Kaspersky and Symantec.

AV-TEST also tests with many other antivirus software. There are only four security products that achieve maximum points including Windows Defender, F-Secure SAFE, Kaspersky Internet Security, and Symantec Norton Security.

The products are developed by other leading security companies, such as AVG Internet Security, Avast Free Antivirus, Trend Micro Internet Security, Bitdefender Internet Security and VIPRE Security AdvancedSecurity, only 17.5 points.

The lowest score belongs to Webroot SecureAnywhere with 11.5 points including 2 points for protection, 5.5 points for performance and 4 points for ease of use.
