Windows 365 Apps Officially Launched for Windows 10 and 11

As part of the major February 2023 update for Windows 11, Microsoft has officially released the General Availability (GA) version of Windows 365 apps for both Windows 11 and Windows 10 platforms.

Windows 365 is built on top of the Azure Virtual Desktop service. This application allows users to access Microsoft's Cloud PC server. Businesses and organizations can choose the configuration of Windows 365 Cloud PC based on their needs with a subscription price based on the number of users per month.

Cloud PC is a service from Microsoft that allows enterprise administrators to deploy Windows 10 computers that can be accessed remotely over an internet connection. We can temporarily call this a cloud computing platform. End users can access their apps and workflows online, from any device. With Cloud PC, Microsoft manages the configuration of your business computer with regular updates, improved security, and administrative support. Cloud PC is part of Microsoft's Windows as a Service transformation campaign.

You will of course need a Windows 365 subscription to use this new app. Microsoft said:

With Windows 365 apps, you can switch directly from desktop to Cloud PC. This app gives you a personalized experience tailored to your settings, configuration, and working style. It also reduces the hurdle for IT admins in helping employees have a more convenient single sign-on experience.

Some of the outstanding features that Windows 365 supports include:

  1. Use Cloud PC as windowed or full screen
  2. Reliable, high-performance experiences for Microsoft Teams, multimedia navigation, and other Microsoft 365 apps
  3. Support for Restart, Reset, Restore, Rename, and Troubleshoot Cloud PC is available directly from Windows
  4. Live single sign-on experience
  5. Supports Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Microsoft Authenticator for secure access to Cloud PC
  6. Accessibility with screen readers and keyboard shortcuts
  7. Update apps regularly and automatically to ensure employees are using the latest version of Windows 365.
