Users report 'jelly screen' error on iPad mini 2021, Apple says 'it's normal'

While 2021 iPad mini owners expect a fix for the jelly screen issue, Apple claims that this is a normal behavior with LCD screens.

Apple further explains that it is the way the Liquid Retina display refreshes line by line that causes the uneven scrolling effect, aka the "jelly screen". However, on devices with other LCD screens from Apple, such as the new iPad Air, there is no such problem.

The strange effect on the 2021 iPad mini was first discovered by The Verge reporter Dieter Bohn. After that, many other new iPad mini owners also noticed the same effect on their devices. Even some people said they saw the 2021 iPad mini models that Apple displayed at Apple Stores also had this problem.

All were expecting a fix, but Apple didn't think so. "Apple has shared with us that the 'jelly screen' issue on the 6th-generation iPad mini is normal behavior with LCD screens," Ars Technica said. "Because this type of display refreshes line by line, there is a small delay between when the line at the top of the screen and the bottom line is refreshed. This causes the uneven scrolling effect you see on the laptop. iPad mini".

In the past, this problem has appeared on the original Samsung Galaxy Fold and more recently on OnePlus smartphones. However, devices with Apple LCD screens have never experienced this phenomenon.

Since Apple doesn't consider this a bug, it's unlikely they'll release an update that fixes the issue. If your newly purchased iPad mini is experiencing this problem, you will most likely have to live with it.

Of course you can consider returning the item if the return policy is still in effect.

Good luck!
