Upcoming Android phones will record 4K HDR video
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 chip can capture better images, capture higher quality videos.
Qualcomm has revealed details about the new Snapdragon 845 mobile processor, expected to be available on smartphones and laptops early next year. The Snapdragon 845 is a continuation of the 2017 version of 835, which is currently very popular on flagship Android phones.
Like its predecessor, the 845 version is not only a microprocessor but also combines system functions such as CPU, GPU, ISP and DSP, all in one. In addition, it takes advantage of both the latest LTE gigabit connection and the WiFi modem connection.
The most important new feature is the ability to shoot 4K video with extended contrast range (HDR) and a maximum speed of 60 frames per second. The Snapdragon 845 chip can also capture 720p slo-mo video at 480 frames per second and about 120 frames per second for 1080p video.

With still images, the Snapdragon 845's Spectra 280 ISP reduces noise on multiple frames of 16 megapixel photos at 60 frames per second. It also supports a wider color range and a 10-bit depth, 64 times more than before.
The Snapdragon 845 also has many other improvements in speed, connectivity and energy usage. Qualcomm says the new Adreno 630 GPU offers 30% better graphics, 30% more battery savings and 2.5 times faster display. It also supports 6DOF space expansion and room positioning in real time using VR and AR applications.

TrueWireless Bluetooth 5 system allows simultaneous transmission of an audio channel to multiple speakers or headphones. The new system also supports 50% battery life for wireless headphones.
The X20 gigabit LTE modem has optimal speed and actual speed 20% faster than last year's X16. Qualcomm said that the combination of universal license is restricted (licensed) and free, so 90% of suppliers will be able to exploit gigabit services.
SNapdragon 845 is expected to be available on smartphones in early 2019 and will appear on Samsung, HTC, LG, and Google phones. It will also be available on Windows 10 PC by the end of the year.
