This is an AI system that can turn people into animals and vice versa
People often associate natural creatures with concepts: what year they are, what zodiac sign corresponds to which creature, then 'fierce as a tiger' or 'gentle as a dog'. But YouTuber and amateur AI researcher Xander Steenbrugge push this further: he wrote a program to turn people into animals and vice versa.
Like many other image conversion systems, the program written by Mr. Steenbrugge also uses Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs); They learn images from a large database and try to create the desired image thanks to the images put into the system. Deepfake technology also takes advantage of the power of GANs.
To create the so-called 'humanimal' image, Mr. Steenbrugge used 15,000 standard HD animal images and put it into a breeding system called StarGAN v2. After that, Mr. Steenbrugge used a set of human face images to make learning data for the system, running through another creation sample called StyleGAN v2.
This is the result of the AI research guy.

' Most academic reports talk about a way of creating images with clear A-purpose, ' Steenbrugge told Motherboard. ' But because machine learning methods are so flexible, sometimes you can do both B, C and D with just a prototype that makes images, just put other data in and see what happens. interesting place '.
This experiment is only part of a major project of Mr. Steenbrugge, called Neural Synesthesia - Combining Neural Networks; He desires to create audio-visual experiences that will appeal to people enjoying with algorithms and machine learning models.
' I believe we are witnessing the beginning of the digital content era with creativity coming from people interacting with machines. I'm not alone in creating these works, I co-authored them with models of artificial intelligence that I breathed life into . '
