The world's first hybrid hard drive netbook

Yesterday, MSI introduced the U115 Hybrid, the first netbook equipped with a hybrid hard drive, compatible at the same time as the traditional HDD hard drive and the new SSD solid-state format.

MSI U115 Hybrid supports storage on 8 or 16 GB SSD drives and a 120 or 160 GB HDD. The new storage method helps the operating system on the machine process data quickly and longer battery life.

The device is equipped with a 10-inch screen, 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, running on Atom Z530 processor, 1 GB RAM and allowing to upgrade to 2 GB, integrated 2 Megapixel webcam.

MSI's new netbook supports 4-in-1 memory card reader, Wi-Fi connection, Bluetooth, running on Windows XP Home operating system.

Hybrid hard drives are a combination of the first two storage standards introduced by Samsung in March last year. According to the manufacturer, the new method saves energy from traditional hard drives from 70 to 90 percent of power.
