The world's first battery that does not contain permanent chemicals
Ateios Systems has successfully created the RaiCore high-voltage lithium cobalt oxide (HV LCO) electrode that helps create a rechargeable lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) battery that does not contain perfluoroalkoxy, a type of PFA or permanent chemical, the first first in the world.
PFAs are more than 4,700 widely used man-made chemicals that accumulate in the human body and the environment over time. Because they are extremely durable, they are called permanent chemicals. They can negatively affect human health such as liver damage, thyroid disease, obesity, reproductive problems and cancer.
According to test results, battery prototypes using RaiCore electrodes have 15 - 20% higher energy density than standard LCO batteries, and are capable of maintaining capacity above 80% after 1,000 charging cycles - Discharge at 1 degree Celsius and 100% discharge depth.
The new electrode manufacturing process uses polymers that do not contain PFA and can be cured with energy, unlike traditional polymers that cure with heat.
Ateios Systems said the new electrode will be priced competitively with other cobalt-based electrodes.
The new LCO batteries can be used in place of lithium-ion batteries in consumer durables and other electronic products such as smartphones, wearables, power tools, drones, etc., providing an eco-friendly option. environmentally friendly in the battery market.
