Samsung released kernel source for Galaxy S20 smartphones
Samsung has officially launched flagship smartphones in the first half of 2020 including S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra during the Galaxy Unpacked event on February 13. Due to the fact that it is located in the high-end segment, the software, features, as well as the hardware configuration of all three smartphones are very impressive. And for software developers to take advantage of the Galaxy S20 models, Samsung has recently released the kernel source code for all three phones.
The kernel source code is a very important factor for software developers. It is used by developers to create new applications or optimize their existing applications to make the most of the device's capabilities. In addition, kernel source code is also the key to developing custom recovery tools, stable custom ROMs and many other important factors.
With Samsung releasing kernel source code for Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 + and Galaxy S20 Ultra, developers can start optimizing their apps for flagship models from today, including two variables. Exynos 990 chip (in most Asian and European markets) and Snapdragon 865 (US, Hong Kong, South Korea and some other markets).
Samsung has been building a routine release of kernel source code for its devices for years now, shortly after the device was announced. This is very beneficial for developers who need to create or optimize applications early on, contributing to improving the user experience of the device, while showing that Samsung really values role and contributions of third party application developers.
The kernel source is available for SM-G981U, SM-G981B, SM-G986U, SM-G986B, SM-G988U and SM-G988B models. Where the 'U' suffix corresponds to the Snapdragon chip version, the 'B' suffix corresponds to the Exynos chip version.
